Horror In Guatemala
Village of 800 buried in river of mud
A thundering river of mud, rock and uprooted trees poured down a volcano over the town of Panajab, western Guatemala, engulfing everything in its path. The landslide was believed to be the worst single disaster in several days of flooding that have killed hundreds in Central America and southern Mexico.
All residents are feared dead, but authorities still cannot access the town because of the bad weather. After the aerial tour of the devastated area, one official said he had never seen anything like it.
Guatemala bore the brunt of heavy rains exacerbated by Hurricane Stan, which made landfall Tuesday in the Gulf Coast state of Veracruz, Mexico. Oscar Sanchez, a spokesman for volunteer firefighters, said hundreds have died in the communities around Lake Atitlan, and hundreds more may still be buried under the mud.

"For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences (diseases), and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows ...vs21: For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be."
-Matthew 24
"Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!
For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.
The sun and moon will grow dark,
and the stars will diminish their brightness.
The Lord also will roar from Zion,
and utter His voice from Jerusalem;
the heavens and earth will shake;
but the Lord will be a shelter for His people,
and the strength of the children of Israel."
-Joel 3:14-16
